TOM Ashton was full of praise for Rochford Hundred’s display in their 21-11 victory against London Cornish in the Intermediate Cup on Saturday.
Ashton, Tom Corbet and Ross Murphy all scored tries during the victory at Magnolia Road.
And Ashton, who also kicked two penalties, said: “We played some really pleasing rugby.
“We controlled field position with some good tactical kicking and when the time was right we opened up and played some fast, expansive rugby.
“However, we also fell into the old trap of rushing play after we had made clean line breaks and wasted a couple of opportunities which is something we need to learn from.”
Rochford will be hoping to put that right when they return to London Two North East action this weekend against table-topping Ipswich.
“This game was a good test going forward into the league this weekend against Ipswich who are flying high this term,” said Ashton.
“Some of the squad players also put their hands up for a starting place at the weekend and that should make training more intense which can only help this group of players.”
