League leaders Rochford showed their intent going into next week’s top of the table clash with fellow high flyers Colchester with this commanding display of total rugby.
Poor Ruislip were totally eclipsed and had no answer to Rochford’s power and speed in this 19 try bonanza although they never gave up the struggle and kept trying to compete until the final whistle.
Classy full back Mark Billings opened the scoring with a typical swerving and darting run through the whole of Ruislip’s defence and Cameron Greenhall kicked the first of his 16 conversions.
Big Sam Fombo was next playing at flanker and he then followed up by going over again and Greenhall converted both. Wing Danny Cleare then followed suit to speed in for the bonus point try.
Jody Allen, playing at second row, used his immense power to crash over and Greenhall added the extra before Cleare scored his second try, and it was all one way traffic with the home side dominating set scrums, lineouts and loose.
Further tries by Harry Hudson, Mark Ikhifa, Sam Nash and another from Billings all converted by Cameron Greenhall closed the first half account and the home side were ahead 66 – 0 at the break.
The glorious weather made conditions ideal for running rugby and the boys in black delighted the large crowd with a continued exhibition of fast, powerful rugby with excellent support work by all players.
The West London outfit rallied early in the second half but good defensive work by Rochford kept them at bay before opening up again themselves with a further try spree.
Nine more tries followed as Chris Shields, Tom Corbet (2) Ikhifa (2) Billings, Jay, Cleare and Nash all went over and that man Greenhall converted 8 of them and hit the post with the other.
An impressive display just at the right time with very tough opposition to come with Colchester next week and Eton Manor and North Walsham also waiting to take a shot at us over coming weeks.
