With 17 tries in three games Rochford are starting to look the business especially with this excellent performance under their belts.
They scored 8 tries and dominated in most departments of this entertaining match. The lineouts provided a constant stream of possession where Stephenson, Whight and Needham provided plenty of ball and the scrums were keenly fought.
In the loose Rochford turned over Ruislip on a number of occasions and were faster with ball in hand. Ruislip however, were no slouches and looked to attack at every opportunity which did not always work to their advantage as terrific Rochford defence and a number of basic errors conspired against them.
From very early on the home side showed they were in the right frame of mind and two tries by the excellent flanker, come hooker, Tom Corbet set the mood.
Then winger Laurie Scanigula –Cooke followed up a quick piece of ball play finishing off with a good try and Rochford were 15 points up without reply.
The visitors responded with a try of their own after some good approach work.
The impressive number eight James Needham drove over to score the fourth try and secure a try bonus point which Lloyd O’Connor converted and soon after wing Sam Barnes finished off an outstanding piece of play with a first class try and Rochford ended the half 27 – 5 in front.
The second session was more even with the West London side upping the pace and they spent a good deal of the half trying to break down the solid Rochford defence.
When the home side did manage to attack they put together some delightful stuff and a try from popular prop David Coombe was very well received by the team and spectators alike.
Another fast, flowing move saw back row Greg.Whight score and Dan Needham converted.
Ruislip, to their credit, kept attacking and were rewarded with a try to reduce the deficit but at 39 -10 the game was beyond them.
Full back Dan Needham, who is enjoying his new position, went over for a pleasing personal effort and converted his own try.
The last say was from the visitors when their no.eight broke through to score a converted try.
A very satisfying result for the team and coach Mark Sexton especially with more hard games to come but still a few of things too tighten up on.
Having said that, a good afternoon’s rugby enjoyed by the team and supporters in late summer sunshine.
Well done lads and keep up the good work.
