This was the highest score against that Rochford has suffered since February 2002 losing to Norwich and the last time that Rochford did not score a point was against Braintree in March 2008. So, all in all, not a happy day for the boys in black !
In the end they were soundly beaten by a side that played fast ,basic rugby and who made few errors at crucial times.They forced poor Rochford into making many mistakes and bad decisions and punished them for it.
The first half hour of this game was a competitive affair with the visitors giving Westcliff plenty to think about. The tackling was hard and neither side had any advantage until the home team broke away to score the opening try quickly followed by a penalty kick.
Another penalty kick and a try before half time took Westcliff into a 16–0 lead at the break.
The second half was all one way traffic as Westcliff ran riot and Rochford’s heads went down. A further five tries and a couple of penalties rounded off a miserable afternoon for Rochford players and spectators alike who had to put on a brave face in front of a jubilant Westcliff crowd.
Young Jack Hall made a promising start in the centre and there were a few pieces of good play but Rochford are having a torrid time at present adapting to this league.

Westcliff RFC Match report
Both sides started this match full of fire and it was Rochford who had the early attacks but Westcliff's steady and always improving defence kept them out. Playing in front of a crowd of around 150, Westcliff were soon on the attack and drove Rochford back and forced them to give away penalties. The ball was cleared to touch but Westcliff took it on the right, swung the ball left and Olly Jones was over for a try. Rob Smith then kicked a penalty from the Rochford 10 metre line and added another from 35 metres for an 11-0 lead. Rochford tried heroically to put something together but found the so far unbeaten Westcliff team in no mood to allow anything and it was Olly Jones who set the seal on the first half with his second try, which was not converted. At 16-0 up Westcliff could have sat back but were too wiley to let that happen and soon Nick Bard was up with a forward break to score a try on the right, again unconverted for 21-0. Forwards and backs now handled and it was Elliott Levy on 54 minutes who took the final pass to score under the posts leaving Rob Smith with a simple conversion to make it 28-0 Westcliff welcomed Ben McKeith back after a sojourn with Southend and he marked his return with a try only two minutes after Levy's to take the total to 33. Rob Smith added a penalty and from a kick ahead, Jack Gray was up to take the ball and score a try. Rob Smith's conversion made it 43-0. A Rochford attack in mid-field was reversed when Simon Jones intercepted a pass and the speedy lock raced away without a hand laid on him for a try under the posts. Rob Smith converted to round off the scoring. Fifteen of the Westcliff squad of 18 have come up through the club's mini and youth system. "That is something the coaches over the years and the rest of us can be proud of," said Westcliff press officer Geoff Sawyer. "The boys played really well. Rochford is our second oldest local derby and that was a spur for them.
