[b]Rochford U7's V's Burnham 21st October
Match Report[/b
]The boys kicked off with a cracking start to the season. Burnham RFC hosted this week’s matches of which our lads did themselves proud. Conditions were poor with constant showers and sogginess underfoot. Parents and spectators, Wellied/Umbrellaed, crossed the lake that formed over night on the pitch to watch their offspring compete.
Our first match took a little to get started with the boys unsure of how matches work but with reassurance and guidance from Russell, they were soon into the run of things. Our lads won the first match with some fantastic offensive and defensive play. The first of their victories, Rochford 1 – Burnham 0.
The penultimate battle was peppered with many individual successes and great examples of the boys working as a team. Several tries were disallowed due to the ball not being controlled over the line but never the less…another victory, Rochford 2 – Burnham 0
And finally, the concluding match. The boys had a difficult match as Burnham also came into their own, challenging our lads with some strong offence. However the Rochford lads maintained their composure, making some excellent tackles (tag rips of course!). An area of weakness did rear its ugly head in the form of stepping outside of touch line, unfortunately disallowing 4 tries. A special thank you goes out to Luke for swapping jerseys to help out the other side. A fantastic display of good sportsmanship. Rochford 3 – Burham 0
A great start to the season team, you did yourselves and your parents proud. Many thanks to Russell for his input into the children’s training. I think I can say on behalf of all of us…You’re doing a cracking job!
I have posted photos of today’s match on Box. Looking forward to post match roasts.
