Kick off and after a superb combination of passing between Ben, Dalton and Zac made an opening for Toby to perform a blistering run to open the scoring. Southend responded well with an equaliser.
Undeterred Rochford pushed forward with some excellent support from Milo Storer, Edward Freshwater and Ethan Peacock to give Toby Addison-Smith the space to notch up his second try of the game. Southend appeared to be a physically stronger side which allowed them to keep the ball in the Rochford end for most of the first half. However due to great defensive play by all of the Rochford team with some outstanding tagging by Dalton Chittendon, Milo, Finlay Storer & Toby Southend only managed to score a further 3 try’s.
Rochford upped the ante in the 2nd half with Ben Smith showing courageous determination in winning a loose ball which was quickly passed along the line by Edward, Ethan, Finlay and Zac May to allow Milo to slip through the oppositions defence with unsurpassable speed to gain a well earned try for Rochford. However against some great defensive work by Rochford Southend still managed to increase the lead. In an immediate response to this Rochford dug deep and with some well coordinated support work and good passing from all allowed Dalton to negotiate the defence with phenomenal pace and run the full length of the pitch to score Rochford’s final try of the game.
