Rochford U7s vs. Ongar, Braintree Festival Runner Up Semi Final 18 April 2010

The thought of a chance to win some silverware put a spring in the step of the Rochford side and even though Ongar opened the scoring, Rochford produced some more of the outstanding team play that we had seen earlier, resulting in a nice try for Zach. This was followed by one for Dalton and after an Ongar try was disallowed for too many steps we finished the half 2-1 up and full of enthusiasm.

Fintan kept the momentum going with some words of inspiration and we started the second half. Finlay came on as a super sub as he immediately dodged 3 players and ran for the corner giving Rochford another try.

Ongar responded with a great individual score but that just made Finlay want more, as soon as we regained possession he was off , running the length of the pitch to score his second in as many minutes. Some excited parents witnessed yet more outstanding teamwork that resulted in Ben getting another try and Zach being unlucky with a disallowed one when he fell onto his knees. Final score 6-3…on to the Final.
