South Woodham ‘A’ vs. Rochford Under 7s, 9 Octover 2011

We played their ‘A’ team first and after winning the toss, started with our new man Sam who passed to Jamie. After some good defence by the opposition, the ball was lost, leading to great tagging by Joe and Harry and eventually Rochford managed to push their player into touch. Due to obstructions by South Woodham, the ball was lost again and after tags from Oliver.P and Joe, South Woodham made it to the try line. However, the try was disallowed for diving and Rochford won the ball. Great passing between Joe, Lewis, Sam and Oliver.F followed, with Harry making a good run towards the try line but he was forced off the pitch by a determined South Woodham defence. With the opposition making another good run, Oliver.P and Lewis made more good tags and the ball was eventually won by Joe, who after a fantastic run was tagged and the ball was lost to the opposition. More tagging by Lewis, Jamie and Harry followed and despite their best efforts, South Woodham made it to the try line. However, the player had no tags and no try was given.

South Woodham started the 2nd half and were immediately tagged by Oliver.F, with Lewis winning the ball and a fantastic succession of passes between Oliver.P, Lewis, Joe, Jamie and Sam, Joe broke free and scored a great try for Rochford.

With South Woodham heading into the Rochford half, Lewis made two successive tags, followed by Jamie and Rochford won the ball. With more great runs and passing between the entire Rochford team, the ball was lost to South Woodham who made a fantastic run towards the try line, which was only outshone by an absolutely amazing and determined run by Joe, chasing the player and tagging him just a few feet from the try line. After a forward pass from South Woodham, full time was called and a jubilant Rochford team left the pitch for a break before their match against the ‘B’ team.
