Rochford U7s vs. South Woodham Ferrers, 18th Decemeber 2011

The visiting side started the game but quickly lost the ball after their player took too many steps before passing, following a tag from Oliver.P. Jamie then passed to Lewis who was forced out by the opposition and South Woodham took possession again. After a tag from Joe, Harry.P managed to force their player out. Harry.H passed to Harry.P and the South Woodham defence swung into action. They managed to tag Harry.P, Joe, Jamie and Lewis before a pass was made back to Harry.P who put Rochford ahead.

The South Woodham player immediately ran through the Rochford defence and would have put the visiting side even, had the try not been disallowed for diving. Unfortunately for Rochford, their next effort also met the same fate as after passes from Joe, Jamie and Harrison, the ball was passed back to Joe who made it to the try line but his try was also disallowed.

With South Woodham with the ball, a determined Lewis tagged two consecutive players and a forward pass saw Jamie able to pass to Harry.H. Harry.H then made an excellent run and scored Rochford’s second and also his first try for the club.

In the first play of the second half, Oliver.P and Harry.P put their much practiced move into action, with Harry.P weaving through the defence and scoring Rochford’s third. A tag from Oliver.T could not stop South Woodham scoring immediately from the next pass.

The Rochford boys were determined to keep ahead and in the next play there were excellent runs for Harrison, Joe, Toby and Harry.P before Ben was tagged near the try line. Great support from Joe enabled a quick pass and he scored for Rochford.

South Woodham steamed through the defence and it was only their player dropping the ball at the try line that stopped them scoring again. A quick thinking Harry.P picked up the ball and made a great run for the try line. After being tagged he passed to Joe, then quickly onto Ben who made a mighty run, but unfortunately fell at the try line. South Woodham then made their way through all the Rochford players to score again.

Oliver.P then passed to Harrison who made an excellent run, only being tagged at the last moment. A quick pass to Joe and Rochford had their fifth.

In the last play of the game, South Woodham made a mighty run and despite two tags from Joe, scored their third.
