Rochford U7s vs. South Woodham Ferrers, 18th December 2011

South Woodham got off to a strong start with a try, despite a tag from Toby. Rochford immediately replied with a great run from Oliver Taylor, who passed to Joe for Rochford’s equalizer. Rochford sprang into action on South Woodham’s next run, with great defence from Joe, Ben and Sam leading to a forward pass. Toby then passed to Oliver.F, then onto Oliver.T who made a mighty run and put Rochford ahead.

South Woodham’s next run again saw great defence from Rochford, with tags from Ben, Joe and Jamie, but the player made it through to score South Woodham’s second. Ben then passed to Sam who made it through to score Rochford’s third.

Great defending from Ben then saw South Woodham’s player run out. Oliver.T passed to Jamie who stormed through the pitch to score for Rochford.

At half time, the weather really turned and the snow started. After a tiring morning, the players were using the last of their energy to battle on. Sam passed to Ben, then onto Harrison who was forced out by a very tight defence. South Woodham were then forced out themselves, and after pass from Sam, Ben made a fantastic run for the try line, but fell at the last moment, dropping the ball. With all the players exhausted, South Woodham made it through without a single tag and scored another.

Harry.H then passed to Sam. After a dropped ball, South Woodham took their chance and scored again. Harrison then passed to Joe, then onto Adam ad back to Joe, who was forced out by South Woodham. Despite a tag from Adam, they made it to the try line again but the try was disallowed.
In the final moments, with the snow really coming down, Adam passed to Oliver.P who made a determined run through the South Woodham half, only being tagged at the last moment. Great support again from Joe enabled a quick pass and another try for Rochford.

It was a bitterly cold day and all the boys should be congratulated on their determination and effort.
