Southend’s comeback was met with a tag from Oliver.T but a gap in the defence saw them score their first of the game. Oliver.F then made a fantastic run but didn’t quite make the try line this time. However, Rochford were still determined and Sam scored a try after passes from Lewis, Jamie and Oliver.T.
Southend started the second half and equalized, even after tags from Jamie, Oliver.P and George. The score didn’t stand for long in this fast moving game, which then saw passes between Joe and George, then back to Joe to put Rochford back in the lead. This was soon met by another Southend try, despite tags from Joe and George.
After Rochford lost the ball, some great tagging from Joe saw Southend lose the ball, which was taken by George who made a great run and put the home side back in the lead.
With not much time left to play, a determined Rochford defence saw tags from Harry, Joe, Oliver and George before Rochford won the ball. Great runs from Oliver.P and Harry saw the ball passed to Joe who scored Rochford’s sixth.
It must be said how brilliantly all the boys played, against three very good sides. It will also be interesting to see the scorelines when they meet Southend again in two weeks time.
