The RaMS kicked off and were immediately on the offensive pressuring Ashford in their own 22, A kick from Ashford was unfortunately caught by the strong wind and almost blown backwards and out for a line out approximately 5 metres from the try line. Having pre-empted the wind conditions the RaMS threw a short line out ball and they crashed over for the first try.
The RaMS then caught the ball from the re-start and immediately resumed the attack. The girls were a credit to their coaches, with good ball handling skill, using the full width of the pitch with the backs making some excellent attacking runs, and as the play began to break down, the forwards would intervene and win the ball back.
As the game went on, the score continued to rise, but to their credit Ashford showed great determination defending well and making the RaMS work for every point, they came very close to scoring but were only stopped by some impressive tackling.
It was a great game played in great spirits, both teams were a credit to their coaches, I for one am looking forward to the return game next season. Well done girls.
