We always knew it was going to be a tough match and from the first kick off we were proved right. Braintree chased down their own kick off and turned us over with ease. Some beautifully timed passes then cut our defence to pieces.
What followed was an onslaught of wave upon wave of attacks. Rochford never got in a position to really attack Braintree and when we did have the ball, we held on to it for to long or threw miss passes. We can take only a few positives from the match. There was some excellent tackling, particularly from Ewan Hardie,
Michael Shields and Stefan King. The boys also never stopped trying even when the game was clearly lost. The score line would have been even worse had there not been some excellent late scrambling defence and a held up try.
