Wanstead vs. Rochford U12s, 16 January 2011

Just by looking at the score line we can tell the boys were well up for this match, after such a long break. Scoring the try in the first minute bode well for a high scoring match.

First try was scored by Michael, receiving the ball from some text book passing from the backs, allowing him to run the wing to put the ball over the line. Tom Child converted. The scrum was working well again, Matt Dobson ran on to the pass and so nearly got to the line showing great strength and determination. Then we had a line out, quick ball to Stef who powered over the line (glad you were feeling better Stef!). Tom Child as accurate as ever converted.

Harry Oldacre tackling superbly stole ball passed it to Michael who ran well but needed to off load as Matt was there on the wing – a chance missed. Derek also running well on the other wing got so near to putting ball over the line but for some great tackling from Wanstead. Michael scored two more tries again great passing from Tom Child and Jake, allowing Michael to notch up a gear weave through and score. Tom converted again. Well done to Jake for running nearly half the pitch to score just before halftime, and a successful conversion left us 35-0 at half time.

Some changes were made at half time, and the second half carried on with some good passage of play from all players. Great tackles from Harry, Ewan and Freddy, stopped Wanstead from scoring. Jack showed excellent skill on rucking and protecting the ball for scrum half Matt Fitz to recycle and pass accurately down the line. Matt scored and with another successful conversion we ended the game 42-0.
