The final match was again a closely fought match with both sides being very physical. A different referee this time but again his control of the breakdowns meant that tempers were starting to bubble over. Thurrock scored first but this was equalled by a fine try from Michael Shields. Thurrock gradually battled back to get the winning try. The match ended with a couple of bad tempered breakdowns, the last of which lead to a player from each side getting sent off. Unfortunately, this spoilt the end of the festival for us. We did not progress through to the next round and left feeling somewhat disappointed.
However, there were many positives to take away from these matches. Our ball retention in the rucks was greatly improved and the scrums were working much better. However, our tacking let us down with some very large holes opening up in our defence. We need to work on this !
