Upminster vs. Rochford U12, 20 February 2011

First Half

Rochford started with the ball but was soon in Upminster’s possession, this seemed to be the theme for this game. We lost the first scrum against the head and Upminster had their scrum half pick up ball and score their 1st try. Although we did put in some good tackles and with a long kick up field, Upminster managed to regain the ball and quickly had their 2nd try in the bag. There was some good tackles made but still, this was not enough to keep Upminster from yet another try, followed by a 4th soon after. We then had an Upminster scrum which they knocked on and that was the end of the first half.

Second Half

We were 4-0 down and thought a change was what we needed. This however, is never an easy decision, given the time span there is at half time, so we got back on and put in some good tackles at the start but again resulting in Upminster scoring another try right away. We had the ball in our hands on the outside but had nowhere to go and yes, you guessed it, Upminster scored again, this was after all, one of the best teams in Essex and by golly, were they hard to beat, they went on to score again and again, bringing the score in this half to 20 – 0 to Upminster. Then suddenly, just when we thought that was it for us, Freddie had the ball and was running like the clappers to get in a try for Rochford, so it was not completely Upminster, we did get a score in the end. Well done Freddie and to the rest of the team today.

I would however, like to ask if anyone is interested or even if you’re not, we would like you all in turn, and if you want to share with someone, that ‘s also fine and allowed, to do a match report by the end of the season, as Donna and I have had such fun, we feel it only fair you each get a piece of the action. Please let me know and I will see that you each get a turn, no fighting now, looking forward to all of your eager offers on Saturday, can’t wait to see who’ll be first.
