Southend vs. Rochford U12s, 13 November 2011

Southend start strongly and get an early try after dominating the rucking. Despite going behind the Rochford forwards begin to assert some pressure and nearly equalise through some good passing play.

Rochford win a scrum close to the Southend try line, and shortly after Ryan goes over for a well deserved equaliser. Rochford are defending well, keeping their shape and making some great tackles restricting Southend’s progress.Close to the end of the first half Southend score their second try against the run of play. The half finishes 10-5 to Southend.

Rochford make a great start to the second half with Ryan going over in the opening minute to give Rochford the equaliser. The Rochford forwards are performing well in the rucks and Southend are penalised several times for offsides. After a quickly taken Rochford penalty Sarah J powers through the opposition to score, taking the score to 15-10.

Southend come back strongly but Rochford’s defence is up to the task. A period of good interlinking Rochford play culminates in Lewis flying down the left wing, evading a tackle and getting the ball down to take the score to 20-10.

In the closing minutes Southend get a consolation try with the final score 20-15 to Rochford.
