Basildon vs. Rochford Under 12s, 23rd October 2011

As in the first game Rochford find themselves behind early on, but dig deep to put the pressure back on Basildon. Several driving runs and fine performances from the forwards in the ruck bring Rochford close to the Basildon try line.

For what seems like an eternity Rochford have possession on the line with Basildon defending strongly, and several attempts to get the ball down are thwarted.

Finally, Sarah J gets the ball down showing great line awareness to earn Rochford a well deserved try. Jamie converts to bring Rochford back to 7-7 and as in game 1 the teams finish the first half level.
After a team talk by Steve, Rochford start the second half looking determined and start brightly.

However, Basildon are also motivated and get some good possession winning several Rochford lineout’s. Crucially, a Basildon player is pushed out into touch close to the Rochford try line by Max playing at FB.

Under pressure Matt N then calmly kicks clear from the subsequent lineout to put the pressure back on Basildon.

Ben playing at SH gets the ball out quickly from another scrum and distributes to the backs. This is followed by several good runs down the wing from Lewis, Anthony, and Harry, but Basildon’s defence holds out.

Rochford are now gaining momentum with committed rucking again from Regan, Ben, Liam, Luke, and Sarah J. Basildon are pushed back over the try line, they try to hold the ball up but Regan manages to get the ball down for another well deserved try. Jamie maintains a 100% record converting again to bring the score to 14-7 to Rochford.

The game ends with Basildon finishing strongly looking for an elusive equaliser.

As with game 1, another excellent team performance, with every Rochford player contributing to a fine win. Well done Rochford.
