1st Half
We borrowed Ollie and Alex. After a disappointing festival at Upminster we were really looking to make amends and with the home advantage, and went out feeling confident.
We were off to a flying start with Toby dodging through midfield before setting Ben on a long run, threading straight through the Burnham defence for a great opening try. This was immediately reciprocated by Burnham at the other end. Some good passing between Milo and Dalton resulted in him scoring and after another from Burnham, Ollie also got his name on the score sheet with a great zig zagging run.
The end to end battle continued and it was becoming apparent that both sides were good at attacking but were lacking in defence. Some good passing in the centre ground from Fin and Alex set Ben off for another good try for the home team. Further good passing and individual efforts resulted in more tries for Milo, Ben and Ollie and the score at half time was 6-4 in Rochford’s favour.
2nd Half
The second half continued in the same way as the first with both teams attacking well with good exchanges in the centre of the pitch and matching each other try for try. Again there were some great individual efforts, but this was always being counteracted by the opposition who had a couple of strong players. With the clock ticking, Burnham turned up the heat and came within 1 try of drawing level but this seemed to spur on our boys with an excellent bit of team play from Dalton, Toby and finally Ben resulting in another nice try. Following this we saw a great effort from Fin being denied by a great tag but Ollie managing to see it home over the line. A good result with some excellent individual efforts and nice team play in parts.
