Match Report and Photos By Alun Smith After the first match our boys were keen for more.

1st Half

It was a great start with a succession of passes resulting in Dalton planting one over the line – great stuff. Unfortunately, as in the first match, Burnham were able to score in reply without 1 tag to worry them. Hmmm. Fortunately Rochford’s attacking play was again very good. Luke set Dalton off to score after a long run and which was equalled by a great Burnham effort. Next, Kyle was unlucky not to score as he was tagged just short of the line, but Ben did the honours. Further excellent passing interchanges between the whole team resulted in more tries for Ben and Dalton with the score at half time 6-4 in our favour.

2nd Half

Ollie and Liam kicked off the scoring for Rochford with 2 excellent individual efforts down the line but again Burnham came back. There was more good passing by both teams in the middle of the field which were was duly rewarded. Ben passed to Ollie who then set up Milo for a storming run over the line – good work. Dalton then penetrated the Burnham defence before setting up Ollie for a great, unstoppable run to the corner. Good movement from Burnham followed and they managed a couple of back to back tries.

There were further tries for Liam, Ben and Ollie with good support from Dalton, Fin, Toby and Milo and the match was finished with one for Burnham with the final play of the game.

Another good result. Both teams played some good rugby with some nice passing and some great tries.

Points to work on for next time:
Passing – Although there was some lovely passing today, we need to learn to pass before we get tagged. We will come up against harder opposition in the months to come and so our long individual tries will not be as easy, so we need to be able to move the ball up and down the line as we run.
Defence – Its hard tagging a fast moving player so we need plenty of practice in anticipating where they are running to, so we can take the shortest route for interception.
Offside – We were caught offside many times when we were defending today, so remember to keep yourselves between the ball and your own try line when the opposition are attacking.
It was great see Rochford playing well as a team again and hopefully they will be buoyed be today’s results. They looked confident and really enjoying themselves which, after all, is what its all about. In particular very well done to the under 7s who helped out as they were an integral part of the success of the team today.
