Rochford U8s vs South Woodham Ferrers, 6 February 2011

The newly formed under 8’s squad continues to grow in numbers and experience, for the three matches on 5th February the squad was: Alex, Dalton, Harry, Jake, Kai, Kyle, Max, Toby, Tommy and Travis. A good turn out as some had just started training.

The first game against South Woodham Ferrers gave the team a chance to get use to the speed of matches. A couple of missed tag gave SWF an early lead, but Rochford quickly hit back with Travis scoring their first try- complete with “airplane” celebrations.

SWF hit back quickly, but Rochford continued to move the ball around making several attempts to run up the side line. Passing and support play was good and Rochford lost the ball due to turnover after 8 tags. Shortly before half time Speedy Joe came on for Toby and Rochford started the second half with a quick try from Dalton. The remainder of the half was true “end to end” stuff with tries for both sides, with Speedy Joe and Jake [twice] scoring for Rochford.
