Wanstead vs. Rochford Under 8s, 2 October 2011
Wanstead won the toss and had a good run at our line.
We got 2 tags, but they broke through to score their first try. Joe Maxwell had a great run, passing to George after the tag, he then scored, but was disallowed as he ran out. Wanstead miss threw the ball which was picked up by George who then ran well dodging the tags to score Rochford’s first.
Bradley, Luke and James got three tags and Wanstead were unable to break through, the ball being held in their own half by our excellent defending. George and Liam both scored good tries to make the score 1-3 at half time.
Early in the 2nd half Bradley had a great run but got tagged a few meters from the try line. A quick pass to Joe Maxwell secured our 4th try.
Great tagging and defensive play by Joe Dowler, Sam and Harry kept Wanstead at bay. Ball was turned over and after some great passing between Liam, George and Luke, Dylan sped through Wanstead’s defence to get our 5th try. Wanstead fought back and with good defence stopped George from scoring his 3rd try. They then powered through our defence, now a little broken to score their 2nd.
Their Glory was short lived as Sam ran well until tagged at about 4 meters, quickly passing to James who gave us our 6th try.
