Woodford vs. Rochford U8s, 27th November 2011

Rochford started and Jake slipped the ball to Brad who made a perfect pop pass to Toby, who smashed one home, to open the score-line and his account for Rochford (things can only get better now Toby.1-0 Roch!

Woodford got one straight back 1-1. Brad and Fen then made some crucial tags and forced a turnover ball. Sam laid on Fen, who passed out wide to Jake and Jake just took it home - Jake style 2-1 Roch!

After some cool tagging from Joe and Sam, Roch soon forced the turnover ball, again. As Alex instructed the boys to hold their line, he passed a sweet little ball to Joe, that left Woodford sleeping. Joe laid on Jake who looked like a heat seeking missile as he took another one home, bagging his second and Rochford's third 3-1 Roch!

Roch then forced another turnover ball with Brad, Alex, Fen and Sam all making vital tags. Sam laid on Toby with an inch perfect ball that allowed him to run the length of the pitch and tuck away his second of the half and Rochford's fourth! Woodford got one back and the half ended 4-2! Great first half Roch.

After the break, Speedy replaced Jake. Woodford started out strong and got one back 4-3. George came on in place of Toby and Woodford scored again, equalising the score. Roch were now in trouble; they had lost a 4-2 advantage. Sam made a splendid run, that was laid on to him by George and just slammed it home. Great try Sam! Roch were back in the lead 5-4!

This show of sheer excellence boosted Rochford's morale and we soon forced a turnover ball. It was now time for Oliver, who had just came on, to step-up and cover some ground which he did before laying on George with a sublime pass that enabled him to smash one home and put Roch back in the driving seat of this match! 6-4 Roch!

Our boys soon forced another turnover ball. The next play saw just one pass! Ollie to Speedy, who found his form and made his usual majestic solo run to the try-line, 7-4! Roch were now in control of this game and soon pushed Woodford back again, forcing the turnover, after some clinical tagging from all our boys! We then saw some Champagne rugby from Stubbs, Ollie and George, setting up Brad to smash one home in style. Great try Brad ! 8-4 Roch.

After the ball was back in our possession, more excellent rugby followed; this time from Liam, Sam, Ollie and Fen. These boys rallied together before Ollie broke through Woodford’s, by now deflated, defence to score, 9-4, and the game finished! An explosive second-half from our boys that saw a two try advantage slip away before holding their line and smashing home five tries back-to-back.
