An already depleted team through injury problems was further disrupted with last minute changes still accomplished their goal of a bonus point victory away in their final league match and not conceding any points as well.
Considering this it was an excellent all-round performance with the team having to defend well against a spirited but rather limited Amersham outfit on a number of occasions.
After some early pressure from their opponents Rochford broke away and sent centre Sonny Gay off to race in under the posts and for Cameron Greenhall to add the extra.
More Rochford power play resulted in another try coming from the impressive second row Jamie Douglas who crashed over and Greenhall converted to put the visitors into a 14 – 0 lead.
Rochford’s set scrummage and lineout was a strong as ever, but they had to work hard in the loose where Amersham fought well to disrupt their guest’s rhythm. The Buckinghamshire side forced play up to the Rochford line often, but strong and organised defence kept them out and the Essex lads soaked it up then counterattacked with venom.
An excellent piece of interplay between the splendid Mark Ikhifa and wing Sam Nash resulted in the powerful Nash forcing his way over the try line to score. Once again Greenhall converted and the visitors went in at the break 21 – 0 ahead.
Gradually the boys in black started to get the upper hand and, although not performing at their best, were very much in control of the game. Captain Harry Hudson was particularly prominent and led by example.
Winger Alfie Justice sped in for the bonus point try which was quickly followed by another try each from Douglas and Gay.
To their credit Amersham never gave up the fight and kept attacking but some powerful tackling and driving from all of the Rochford boys forced them back time and again and which took its toll on the home side.
The final try was delivered by second row Dan Sowter, who had had a good game and the final touch was from Cameron Greenhall who, also, had enjoyed himself all afternoon slotting over the conversion.
A fine performance from Rochford to finish off what has been an outstanding league season and they can be well satisfied with a job well and truly done.
Just one more challenge to come as they endeavour to become Essex Senior Cup winners against old rivals Brentwood at Thurrock’s ground next Saturday.
