This weekend saw the 3s welcome Bancroft RFC to Magnolia Rd.
After a perfect start from a Converted Oli Bedford try, the game stagnated a little until Bancroft scored a bizarre opener, made possible by their wingers persistence and no small bit of bad luck.
With Bancroft easily having parity at the breakdown the final 20 minutes of the first half was spent in the middle of the field with some good work being undone by some sloppy passes or "rushes of blood". With 5 minutes to go before halftime Jack Lemon increased the lead to 12-5 and on the stroke of half time Mike O'Connor picked up an injury scoring off a great line to make it 19-5.
Half time saw a few changes due to the great numbers available this week and the game followed a similar trend as the first half. Bancrofts work at the breakdown saw them continuing to able to compete. The Team seemed to have learnt from the first half though and, when the ball was secured and controlled, the backs made some serious yards from Jack Lemon, Dan Fisk and the Evergreen Matt Barber.
Given some room, Dan Fisk scored a brace with some Mazy running and Jack linked up well to pick up another try. Good link play by Mattie Meadows saw Neil Cushing go over whilst Jack Completed his hat-trick with a strong hand-off to make the score at full time 48-5.
Many thanks for Bancroft for making the trip with 13 players and thanks to all the 3s who spent time in their shirt to make it 15 a side for the entire 80 mins
