Bad heads was the order of the day; we arrived at Pegasus and what was to be seen but the first team all on the pitch warming up so I thought here we go again stitch up ?
But I was wrong they had the 2nd team waiting to get changed. Well the game kicked off and the Rams pack again showed there dominance pushing Pegasus all over the park (watch out the second team, the pack is coming after your places....not really). Don had a great game controlling the game bringing in the dynamite backs.
Nathan, the young colt had a great first game for the Rams; playing like he was a regular team player. He scored the first try with Don converting. We was off again, this time it was Lee Wiseman who scored with Don trying all the tricks in the book; using both posts and the crossbar to score the conversion !
The next try was from the electric pace of the Rams Captain, Mike O, just too much to handle and the home team failed to stop him. Don converts again. With half time approaching..... well I thought it was, but alas 50 minutes later the referee eventually remembered and blew the whistle for the break. Again, with many forward subs due to the club not needing their services(?) I made the changes. This rocked us a bit as we was asleep for the first 10 minutes of the second half and allowed the home team in for a soft try. The referee was having a stormer in the dark and the game started to get a bit niggerly with some quite outrageous decisions ? But well done to the players from both sides who managed to contain themselves. I had shouted instructions to Clarkey to get on with the game but he was not happy and before he put his handbag away asked me where my kit was ? "In the car of course !!" with 10 forwards, does he expect me to stand and get cold waiting to go on ?
The game carried on with the Rams tackling for all they were worth. The two young players running and being tackled from above the shoulders every time. With twenty minutes to go the game was very much over and it was getting darker. The referee was determined to play the full time allocated so we ploughed on into the abiss.
Then came the best call of the day...'New ELV' (???) we were not told that anyone must not tackle around the legs(?). Jurgen fell foul to this law change and was sent from the field of play for ten minutes (...the bear was his). Well the game decended into what can only be described as a farce !
Well done to both teams for keeping it going for 50 minutes in the second half.
Man of the Match had to go to young Nathan for FIVE blistering tries, outstanding pace right to the end !
