The old boys put in another fine performance with a win over Burnham to close the year on a high !

Rochford kicked off and within the first 8 mins due to some excellent forward play, the ball was played out to two more NEW centres in the form of ROB and ADAM. These two played well together and moved the ball into the Burnham twenty two where they linked well with Richard George coming in from his fullback position to score way out right, the conversion was a little too much for Dave Isaacs who narrowly missed with this kick. Rams 5 - Burnham 0.
Burnham kicked off and with some good play found themselves inside the Rochford twenty two. Soon they were on the five meter line and with a scrum and their put in. The Rams pack were too strong and with the ball won and played back to Scrum Half Dave Prosser who cleared the line with a solid kick to safety. The play went back and forth then a break out by Rochford saw some fantastic support play from both young centres and Kev Hughes on the wing, the next score was in Rochfords favour, the conversion was missed and the home team were now 10 nil to the good. Rochford were now in control with the forwards and backs playing some very good rugby, good tackling and good support play.
Burnham did not let the Rams have it all their own way and put some good moves together themselves. One paricular passage of play was causing problems for the home team, this could have led to a possible score for the away team had it not been for the intervention of the ball by young Adam who then ran the ball in under the posts. The conversion was not missed and Rochford went in at half time 17-0.
The second half got under way after numerous replacements by the Rams. Five minutes into the game Burnham got onto the score sheet with a well worked move that led to a try to the right of the posts, 17 - 5.
An injury to the knee of Dougie Dickson withiun 10 mins of play saw the return of Kev Anderson who turned up the pressure on his opposite number. There then followed a bout of high pressure from the Burnham Boys who never gave up. Jurgen Reid playing a blinder of a game put in a fantastic tackle to save a certain try, however, the ball was played out to the wing and the cover from Rochford was not there to stop the try, 17 - 10.
The game carried on to and fro, and with not too long to go the game started getting heated up. A few rattles were thrown out of the pram and the game looked as though it could be slipping away from the home team. A penalty inside the Rochford twenty two, for offside caused a bit of a stir and the testosterone levels hit a new high. Craig (SHARKEY) Harbrow as we all know, is normally a peaceful, well mannered, emotionally contained individual....NOT TODAY ! Enough said, the Yellow Card was produced and 10 minutes in the Sin Bin was the order of the day. The penalty was missed, still 17-10, "Phew"
The Rams now got their act together and started playing as team again. The ball was again flowing from hand to hand in the backs and in the blink of an eye Adam Ashton scythed his way through three defending Burnham players to score a brilliant solo try. The conversion was missed but this did not spoil the party. The game ended soon after and Rochford had done enough to win the game, 22 - 10 !
Well done to all who played. BIG UP to Burnham for not giving in. Well done to our two new "RAMS in COLTS clothing" they ran well, tackled well and were not phased at all by playing with the "Lean, mean fighting machine" known as the RAMS (?)
Huggy Bear obviously goes to Sharkey. My man of the match goes to young Adam, but coming a close runner up young Rob. Well done guys it was a pleasure playing with you both.
