Both sides were finding the strong wind was causing problems, but in the scrums Rochford were holding their own and was allowing them to give the backs good ball and they repaid with some awesome breaks.
A few odd decisions from the referee seemed to frustrate Rochford (some more than others - Ed.) but the game continued to flow from one end of the pitch to the other with great play from both sides. An excellent well-drilled Thurrock lineout stopped Rochford taking advantage of some great out-of-hand kicking by Richard George, making full use of the strong breeze.
Half time saw the score at 0-0 and to be honest it looked like that would be the final score as great defence from Rochford meant Thurrock were not at any point looking like scoring.
Rochford made a change at half time as Maugham came off to allow Hughes on, and Rochford continued to make good attacks through the backline. On the hour Anderson came off and Dickson came on. Five minutes later Thurrock had a good break and a few mauls before they broke our defence and scored a try.
On 70 minutes Anderson was back on for Dickson who had pulled a hamstring. The backs were all magnificent as they were relentless and making great grounds, Morgan, Bedford and George were really outstanding.
At the 3/4 mark, Morgan got the ball on the Thurrock ten meter line and took the opportunity to beat three defenders before powering up the pitch and scoring a great try.
The last play of the game saw Thurrock use the wind and kicked long, which was chased well by Thurrock back line, mishandled but touched down. Unfortunately the ref didn't see Thurrock knock the ball on and allowed the try.
Another great display from the team as we fought to the last and couldn't ask for anymore. The Man of the Match could of gone to a quite a few lads; Brownlee, Bedford, Booker, George or even Cushing but it goes to Morgan, well done Chris !
