Cheshunt vs. Rochford U16s, 2nd October 2011

The visitors therefore faced an uphill battle, with the heat and lack of subs, as well as a very noticeable end to end slope of the pitch. Rochford lost the toss, so faced two periods, playing against the gradient, but as ever, when the odds are stacked against them, seemed to up their performance to compensate, the first and third periods ending in 7 – 7 draws.

Cheshunt applied lots of initial pressure but were hit on the break, Cameron Pitt scoring from a 15yrd penalty awarded for a high tackle on Louie Marshall as he sought to score a breakaway try on 16 mins, Matthew Barnes converted, but Cheshunt managed to score on the last play of the period C7-R7.

Ben Nock scored a try, 11 mins into this period, but Cheshunt were already 7 points ahead, before Cheshunt score a try from a penalty, not sure what this was given for, so the period ended C 12 –5.

The third period saw Ben Nock win a penalty when high tackled again when looking good for a try, but Rochford could not capitalise from it. Despite piling on the pressure Rochford were unable to score and then went a try down to Cheshunt. Perry Livingstone got the final score of the day scoring after 15 minutes with Ben Williamson kicking C7-R7.
With things weighed against them, it was a very good effort by the 17 Rochford players to only lose by 7 points over the three periods and two have drawn two of them.
