This game was new ground for the Rochford team as they were playing an U17 side.

Stanford Le Hope v Rochford
Rochford had an early meet at Halfords for their 10:30am kick off at Stanford Le Hope. This game was new ground for the Rochford team as they were playing an U17 side. The game started well with both teams attacking and defending their territory unfortunately for Rochford Stanford broke through and scored a try in the corner which wasn’t converted, Stanford 5 – Rochford 0.
After the restart Rochford had control of the ball and managed to get to the Stanford try line only to be stopped. A scrum followed and Rochford got the ball back for Liam Bass to go over for the try, this was converted by Josh Lipscombe, Stanford 5 – Rochford 7.
Play continued from one end to the other and with great work from the forwards the backs managed to get the ball to Louie Marshall who got the try in the corner, unfortunately this was not converted, Stanford 5 – Rochford 12.
I think this score put some fire into the Stanford boys because not long after they again scored in the corner without the conversion, Stanford 10 – Rochford 12.
As we neared the end of the first half another great push by the forwards was rewarded with Louie going over again in the other corner again not converted, Stanford 10 – Rochford 17. Soon after this the ref blew for half time.
From the restart of the game Rochford attacked through the forwards and from a lineout just off of the Stanford line Harry Brooker managed to score a try, Stanford 10 – Rochford 22.
Stanford then made some changes and brought on fresh legs and not long after they scored their third try which was converted, Stanford 17 – Rochford 22.
This try gave them a lift and it wasn’t long before they scored again the conversion was scored and for the first time since the start Stanford were winning, Stanford 24 – Rochford 22.
This score then put the fire back into Rochford who with the forwards gaining more power in the scrums and malls managed to get the ball out to Andrew Bevan who with a massive run broke through the Stanford line and managed to pass the ball just as he was tackled to Musa Yusuff who ran through to score this was converted by Josh, Stanford 24 – 29.
Just as the second half was drawing to a close Perry Livingstone broke through the line and drawing the opposing player out of position scored under the posts, this also was converted by Josh, Stanford 24 – Rochford 36.
This was a fantastic match to watch so unfortunately this report is not as good as the ones that Mark does as I was more interested in watching than reporting. There was some fantastic play from the forwards who won most scrums and malls and even managed to get some of their oppositions line out ball and with some flowing passing from the backs, enabled the boys to get this unexpected win.
