After a very successful first mini’s tournament Rochford where looking to cap it off with a win over local rivals Southend. The game started evenly with a Harry Lacey breaking through tackles before off loading to Toby Baker who finished with a try. Southend then immediately replied with two further tries and it would have been more had it not been for good taking by George Dell and Harry Price. Straight after half time Chase Chapman picked up the ball and did a mazy run into the opposition half. This gave Rochford good position and after another good run by Toby Baker it ended in a try from Joe Cooper. Southend scored again with little time left on the clock. Again Rochford left it late but thanks to a last minute dash and pass by Jamie Findlater to Joe Cooper who scored with seconds to go.
The boys played really well throughout the tournament and deservedly came 2nd. The coaches would like to say a big thank you to all the parents, grandparents etc that came and supported the boys. It was good to see how all those Saturday mornings paid off with some excellent performances in the matches.
