Un peu de gémissement (A little whine)

The famous French film director Loius Malle said that Every good film or story has a beginning, middle and end ....... Just not necessarily in that order! and on that advice I will start at the end and write today's match report back to the beginning.

In excellent rugby conditions Rochford U14 served up two very contrasting halves....the second half Malle would have also called it " The Silent World" for I didn't hear much and the is very little to say about it other than South Woodham changed their tactics and ran try after try all originating from one side (their right)

I would acknowledge that the penalty count , Scrum count etc suggest the game should have been far more balanced than the score suggests.

Man of the match
All the players gave such a strong first half performance it really could have been given to any one of our team, but I think on shear reactions, thinking and support Sam gave a superb performance today. He never moans always has been supportive to his team mates and undertakes an enormous amount of work. He plays the Hooker role so well being involved in action and being a contributor of almost all that was good in our first half performance.

The South Woodham coach observation was that Rochford appeared first to everything and Sam was certainly a main protagonist in our play, we posted our first 300 yard + gain which was quite impressive, and it appeared everyone wanted a go.

A feature of Wednesday training was the noticeable increase in communication and that was evident in our pre match warm up, on the pitch this translated immediately and we began to win ruck after ruck , maul after maul. From our kicks our opponents looked shaky and we began to gain feet after feet and yard after yard. After some very clever work we managed to find Omar who left our opponents standing and we inevitably scored (Conor Converted) then dominated the play, pace and direction pinning our opponents back.

The extent to which our opponents looked pulled all over the place can't be under estimated and Danny,Omar, Brandon, Nathen and Monkey all had great attempts to further our score , There was some terrific last gasp tackling preventing our scoring . We were watching some beautiful kicking , fabulous passing , terrific running and terrific team play , Super super Rugby.

This was without a doubt our best half performance 21-7 at half time and a pleasure as every player has stepped up and gave a team performance. Ultimately a positive step forward and we can look forward to Wednesday training on tactical issues
