Three on the Spin

What started off as a damp rainy day at the end of winter turned into a mild spring day ideal for Rugby in this 13 a side game , Burnham lost x3 players through illness and a couple of our boys were recovering from being unwell.So with a slight delay ,two debutants and ourselves supporting Burnham we were given a feast of good rugby.

In general I thought the game tended to be narrow, with both sets of players running the ball inwards rather down the line. We posted our second highest tackle count (I believe I may miss % of tackles, in recording but statistically I believe the % per player accurate) and impressively we had a couple of hold ups with some very impressive defensive tackles.

The yard gain was the highest recorded and more impressive second half saw us break 400 yard mark,the fourth try I felt being the most decisive as we were able to break up there attack at a crucial phase and turned in a terrific counter enabling us to go 4-1 on tries rather than 3-2. From that phase Burnham appeared to go quieter as we found the ability to turn the screw .

I thought our rucking was good today Nick, Freddie , Sam,Matt, Nathan and Malikay all chomping at the bit throughout and supplying great supporting roles, Mihi making his debut got a hatrick of tries with some intelligent rugby, but it was enormously pleasing to see George being fed on the wing and score a fabulous try with a run which begun in his own half and included so much weaving he beat one player three times.

Malikay got a very deserving try on a very very impressive debut for the club

Rewardingly Louis also scored a try which his Rugby intelligence deserves, undoubtedly a smart player who is in he right place every time I've seen this lad support every single piece of wing play match in match out week in week out , from summer to Autumn , Winter and with the team in a positive ascendancy and today our press was good his was outstanding , we finally achieved Plan B and along with George we have two exciting players.

However despite the Burnham boys being very quiet and looking beat the final try was also very rewarding with some superb supporting play from Matt, Darcie, Luke and Freddy who capped a great display with a well earned try.

So we have now recorded three wins on the trot, more importantly our consistency level has appeared to have jumped and we have maintained a high level level tackling ratio whilst gaining an attacking flair.

Again excellent performance all round from our players , excellent rugby and much to look forward to ,roll on next week
