What a game

Hard fought match, but fair and both sides played really well. Although I think it would be fair to say there was some trepidation about the forwards with several players missing today, the pack was absolutely immense in the scrum, including winning two against the head on the South Woodham line that resulted in tries for Rochford.

Despite 3 tries and two conversions, the lads ended the first half trailing by 3 points thanks to some well worked South Woodham moves and fast wingers.

The lads came out after the break with renewed fire in their bellies which was rewarded by a great Jack H interception which he ran in for the team’s fourth try. A further try followed later with Ben C converting both. There were some massive performances in the tackle and with a number of the lads playing out of position it is testament to their heart and commitment as a team.

South Woodham did add a fifth try of their own but Rochford dug deep and stuck together, including turning the ball over twice from their own 22 and rucking, mauling and tackling down the pitch, pushing South Woodham back into their own 22.

Wonderful game to watch and every single player should be very proud of themselves. Well done!!
