Having won the festival at Thurrock the week before, they were clearly on the top of their game.
This was always going to be a tougher ask for the team but to their credit they came out fighting and never gave up. Westcliff are a well drilled team who have been together for a number of seasons but we made them fight for every try.
The Rochford defence is improving with every game and there were some crunching tackles being made by Harrison McKenna, Corey Lazell, Jacob Lipscombe and Christopher Martin. The scrum was continuing to work well with James Mowle at hooker and Joe Mitchell at scrum half and although the score was one sided this was not a one sided match.
The backs are beginning to combine well, with Austin King, Ethan Hepton, Corey Lazell and Harry Knight getting the ball wide to make the most of the pace of Harry O’Malley and Jacob Wright. Tom King at full back was reliable as ever. The team were beginning to ruck well and even won some rucks against the play.
Eventually Westcliff A began to put their experience to good use and ran over to score at regular intervals. Another improvement from Rochford in which was, for many in the team, only their second ever fixture.
