Over the two matches, Rochford were seen to use the 21 players in the squad to good advantage, with Rochford getting stronger as each match progressed. It was good to see the lads playing well as a team, and right from the start quick passing opened up opportunities for Rochford, although both halves saw Rochford having to produce defensive qualities against a determined Burnham attack. Rochford's scrum play was solid, and consistent early play from these areas produced some good moves. Although sometimes under pressure from 'in play' Burnham kicking. Rochfors gradually countered this threat by good positional play and catching from our backs. It was also good to see various stopping and tackling methods used by our players to thwart Burnham attacks, with low tackles being especially effective. Rochford launched numerous attacks 'down the lines', and good support and close passing produced tries and many near misses. This match saw Rochford pass the ball around to good effect, with some excellent tries and fine conversions to 'boot', so to speak ! This was one of those days where fluent passing and good teamwork produced fine performances, for which ALL the lads in the squad should be proud. A great result for our first home match of the season. Good sportsmanship also from Billy who put on a Burnham shirt to replace an injured player.
