Basildon vs Rochford U10s, 23rd October 2011

Basildon started the game and true to form we started slow. We were doing the right things but only with 50% effort. As the half went on we started to get our act together. The rucking was working well and at one of these, our new rising star Charlie made a great break for the line, only a last ditch tackle from Basildon prevented him from getting a debut try. The match was fairly even but after a couple of missed tackles and some good running and passing from the Basildon team they went over the line to score the first try of the match. As the half was coming to a close the call went up for the ‘Numbers Ball’. Louis passed out to Dom who ran and just before getting hit passed a lovely ball off to Jamie who made good ground until he was finally brought to the ground.

The second half began and we had finally fully woken up. We started to pile pressure on the opposition, after some good rucking from Hayden & Charlie the ball came back to Louis who whipped the ball out to Henry who offloaded to Laurence who flew over the line for our first try. As Basildon fought back we showed some great defending and from a loose ball in play Frazer saw a gap and went for it. Louis who was in close support received the ball from Frazer and ran in our second try. Play continued and Jamie went on a great drive, being well supported by the team. The drive went on for nearly half a pitch until the ball was passed out to Henry who ran over for the third try of the game. The game was coming to an end but we still had one more move in us. Again Jamie went on a strong and forceful run, he managed to offload to Louis who ran in is second try and the teams fourth.
