Brentwood vs. Rochford U10s, 11th December 2011

Ricky took the captaincy for the today’s matches. As the team lined up he went up and won the first battle, with us winning the toss and having the kick off. Louis tapped the ball and we were off. Charlie took the ball into the first contact setting up a good solid maul, we feed the ball back well and went into a couple more phases of play including some good rucking from Ben, Charlie & Haidyn, we were also passing!!! We were applying good pressure on the Brentwood team and forced our way into deep into their half. We had a line out with Lol throwing a good straight ball, unfortunately Brentwood stole well but the ball was quickly stolen back by a tenacious Ricky who ripped the ball from them. He offloaded to Louis who ran well then passed off to Frazer was away and scored the opening try. Brentwood came back after the restart but with some good tackles from Charlie, Dominic & Henry we kept them at bay. After winning another ruck the ball found its way to Grace who rocketed off like lighting up the pitch, as she was caught she passed out to a supporting Charlie who ran in for our second try. As the half went on there was a lot of good defending from the Brentwood attacks with good tackles from Grace, Frazer and Henry. Our rucking was working well the half finish we us on the attack again.

The second half started and we were immediately on the attack. A ruck had been perfectly set up by Ben & Charlie allowing Louis to whip the ball out to Haidyn who crashed through the Brentwood line, then with a nice offload to Henry he swivelled his way to the try line to score our third try.

With some good defending from Declan and Lol & Dominic all the pressure from Brentwood was quickly snubbed out. Ben made a great steal that set Louis free on another probing run. A scrum was won close to the Brentwood line, Henry came away with the ball and made a dart for the line, only to be held up by some good Brentwood defence, he did however manage to get the ball out to Ricky who did cross the line for the forth.

Brentwood came back at us and won a scrum 5 yards out from our try line and after winning found a gap on the blind side to score try. This only spurred us on and from the restart we were again putting lots of good attacks together. The ball was being passed from Louis out to Declan to Dom ending up with Lol going on a good run.
