Romford vs. Rochford U10s, 22nd January 2012

We won the toss and it was us to kick the game off. Louis took the ball and away we went. The ball was passed back to Charlie who went crashing into contact, a ruck was formed which we held well and as the ball came back down the line it went. Again a good passage of rucking from Haidyn, Ben and Charlie saw us advance up the pitch. Romford came up with the ball but with a good rip from Jamie the ball was passed out to Frazer who darted in and dived over for a try. Romford kicked off but we soon won the ball back through Dominic who made good ground up the pitch. We were putting a lot of pressure on the Romford line but just couldn’t squeeze the ball over the try line. Romford started to come back into the game but despite some good tackling from Louis and Henry, Romford ran in an equalising try. They were now growing in confidence and putting us under a lot of pressure but we were defending solidly. As the half drew to a close a couple of good drives from Ben and Charlie saw us make ground but as Romford come up with the ball they quickly found a gap, due to us bunching up and ran in another try.

The second half started, which saw Declan come on in place of Haidyn. Romford came at us straight away and ran in an early try. We came back at them from the kick off with a good run from Lol who passed off to Frazer who was tackled and from the ruck won us a penalty. Unfortunately we messed this up and presented the ball to Romford who ran in another try. From the restart Louis passed the ball off to Charlie who drove well down the pitch and with support from Henry drove right up to the Romford try line but as so often happens we just couldn’t get the ball over the line, instead Romford took the ball and ran the length of the pitch to score a try. The game carried on with us still attacking with good breaks from Louis and Charlie. Dom was running well with the ball with good support from Lol and Declan but despite some good tackling from Louis and Henry we couldn’t stop Romford running in another three tries. The match ended but the score didn’t reflect the effort of the team.
