Basildon vs Rochford U10s, 23rd October 2011

Again the teams were quite evenly matched with both teams having a share of the ball. Henry was putting some great tackles. Line outs were proving to be a struggle with a number of attempts at the ‘Rolo Ball’ not quite working out. (Some more practice there I think!!), but on a plus in the line out Charlie was spoiling the Basildon line out well.

After a move which saw us pass down the last pass just drifted forward and put pay to our attack. As Basildon broke away they broke through and had a clear run for the line until Grace came across and put him to the ground with a wonderful crunching tackle. At the end of the half a ‘Rolo Ball’ worked well which was pleasing to see.

The second half started with a closely thought battle. Jamie ripped the ball well which lead to another great drive from the team. The ball went loose with Basildon picking up the pieces and managing to squeeze through for the opening try of the game. The game restarted and soon saw Grace go on a great run. We won a line out and this time all went well.

Hayden took a good catch and passed off to Louis, the ball was fired out to Frazer and he was off. Passing and swerving around the Basildon players he ran in an equalising try. Basildon came again and would have surely scored the winning try if not for a fantastic saving tackle from Charlie.
