Basildon vs. Rochford U10s, 23rd October 2011

Rochford flew out the blocks with Frazer running well. We won a scrum well and Louis passed off to an in flight Jamie who blasted through the Basildon line to score the first try of the game. The team were playing well with lots of good drives but encouragingly the team held its position well. Then Jamie sold a great dummy which let him break through till he passed a sweet ball out to Louis who crossed the line to score. Basildon then applied some pressure of their own and would have broken through sooner if not for some great tackles from Laurence & Charlie.

The pressure from Basildon finally paid off for them as they managed to cross the line for a try. The ‘Numbers Ball’ was played again and as before worked really well. The play ended in a ruck from which Henry picked up the pieces and smashed through to score a try just as the half ended.

The second half began with Basildon getting an early try but the rest of the half was full of some great tackling from Henry & Charlie and also good runs from Hayden, Frazer & Grace. Jamie was ripping the ball well while Dom &Laurence were supporting at every break down in play. With Louis linking the play together the team ended up running out winners.

Summary

Despite the slow start this has to go down as one of our best team performances. Positions were kept and also a lot more passing was going on. Also a big thank you to all the support, it was a great turn out.
