The last of the 3 games against Westcliff was one the Westcliff always seemed to have the edge, mainly through their good rucking. Rochford had a few chances, but were mainly on the defensive, and only some fine tackling from Callum at full back in the latter part of the game kept the score down to three.
These were 3 really enjoyable games, with both teams looking to play good rugby, and the conditions supported that. It was a real shame that Southend decided to go home before the first game even started, because they felt the pitches were not playable!
Lessons from these games - tackling was much better that the previous week, with opponents being brought to ground, but still some work to do on support at the rucks, and passing out of the tackle.
