A cold Sunday morning greeted us all as we turned up at Southend Rugby Club for the Essex Cup. As the troops arrived we all had a real buzz about the forth coming battles ahead of us. Tent village was put up then it was time for Steve to rally the troops and prepare them for our first game.
The match started with both teams being evenly matched. We put in a few good breaks from Frazer and Louis. We also did some good rucking, but we were still all getting sucked in and not holding our positions. Stanford won a turnover ball from which they broke down the pitch and scored the first try. Unfortunately Blake injured his knee try to save the try and was out for the rest of the tournament, but he stayed to cheer on the team which was great team spirit. Second half started and again like the first was very evenly matched but again a couple of errors and we let Stanford in for another couple of tries.
Despite this we did not give up and put in some great tackles, one especially crunching tackle from Josh. A disappointing result but it was a good team performance.
